Performance Upgrades on my new 240z
Hey whats up, I just got my new 73 240z last night. It's pretty stock when it comes to about everything but suspension. So what i plan on doing is upgrading the engine for a quicker car. What sort of carb upgrades can I do to get better performance, I have K &N filters already, but do you think i could get duel webers or something that might be better than 73 carbs which I know aren't as good as the earilier ones. Also 4 speed isn't quite as cool as a nice 5 speed so what should I do and how much money am I looking at for a 5 speed conversion and will it work on the l24. I don't really want to swap engines yet because I want to take it easy because I am a high school student and my budget isn't too high so I don't want something that will guzzle gas alot but I could deal with a carb upgrade or something just not the .4 liters extra for now. Also it's too complex, i haven't had too many hands on experiences with cars so i am not very knowledgable, I know how it works just not what everyint looks like. I got a haynes manual. Are there any other books to get too? Sorry, I babble good don't I?

Re: Performance Upgrades on my new 240z
Well, I just got my new '73 240z today as well. It's pretty sweet. Anyway, if you can afford it, go with a triple weber setup. If you do a triple weber setup right, they can work really well with a stock L24. Also, if you want a little extra kick off the line for not too expensive, get a nice 3.9 or 4.11 rear differential. I am no expert by any stretch but there's my 2 cents. Also, I am sure that you are familiar with parts sources for z's but if you aren't, www.zcarparts.com and www.victoriabritish.com are good places to get ideas for mods.
