New (mabe) Z-Driver
Hey guys, well I am looking into buying a 1979 280ZX . I am excited, its going for 2,500 and only has 90,000 miles on it. I think that is pretty low for a 79. Anything you guys could tell me about this particular Z would be appriciated. I heard they are easy to work on, but do they usually have many problems ? Also, the most important question , is it fast ? lol. Im sure stock its not that fast, a strait 6 from 1979 can only do so much, but I am wondering if it is quick or anything. Alright, well im outa here guys, get back to me and ide appriciate it. Later

$2500 sounds ok for a really nice 280zx with that low of milage. That was the first year of the ZX body style. It won't have T-tops, and it may have power windows.
The engines are easy to work on and don't have too many problems in general. The more you go in and modify things the more problems arrise.
The car has pretty good torque and its comfortable to drive. They aren't really fast by today's standards, but can still hold up with some late model 4-cyl cars. I think their quarter mile times competely stock are about 16.5-16.8 That seems pretty slow, but there are some easy upgrades. The engine's intake and exhaust are very constrictive to keep things quiet.
