Welcome to ZDriver!

To clarify... 1979 would be a 280ZX, the 280Z was produced from 1975-1978.

A motor needs 3 things to start:
-proper air
-proper fuel
-proper spark

When it won't start, have you checked for spark? Have you checked to see if the injectors are spraying? Can you hear the fuel pump?

and the spark seems fine i know the battery was practically dead when it died also so idk if that was it i mean when i drive it and it gets warmed up is when it dies and i can get it started back up by popping the clutch and it goes about 15-25 feet before it dies again

check the fuel filter could be clogged
check starter might be dragging making it drain battery
