L28turbo motor with lots of development with slicks, gutted interoir... and some good driving.. .
or a Rb26dett with bigger turbos, upgraded fuel, computer, and u got urself a 10second Z
or a good ol V8...
the best reply to this is you need a 10second motor

Ya, I would say you're talking about 400-500 rwhp, right?
The L28 turbo usually is good for 250-300hp without major internal changes like new pistons and crank. Go for a twin turbo Chevy 350. You don't need much boost, and the V8 will kick the boost in fast. Get or make your own fuel injection computer for it. You'll want a corvette LSD rear end though. The R200 can't take that kind of torque.

Re: need to turn 10 sec in 1/4 mile
I assume by 10s you mean 10.90 and that would be at about 123+ mph. If you mean low-10s, like 10.10, that is another story. Seems like only .8-secs, but the difference is about 125rwhp. Gets real expensive to go quicker when you are in the 10s.
Assuming 10.90 and a weight of 2700lbs after you add all the safety equipment, you are going to need about 420rwhp. Note that I said RWHP which would be about 525 at the flywheel. It can be done with the L28ET but it would be very expensive and I cannot seem to recall a single L28ET in a Z-car running 10s. I am sure I wrong about this so please let me know.
The bottom line is that it is not cheap but you have choices in the driveline. I go by the Zs that are established in the 10s (and still streetable) and they are powered by V-8s, RBs and in my case, Buick GN. I know Greg Dupree has a VG30DETT, but I do not believe he is in the 10s.
It is not easy and it is not cheap. IMO, turbo power is the way to go. Not all V-8s are born equal, but a properly setup NA V-8 can do it, but you start to lose driveability. The RB, GN and TT can make 400rwhp w/o even lifting the valve cover, but not so the L28ET which needs internal work to stay together.
If you are stuck on staying Nissan, then be prepared to shell out lots of $$$ to reach the goal and maintaining it.
