I am desperatly looking for an intake for my 1980 l28 280zx non turbo. I know they probably dont make any for my car. i heard some one say they put an accord short ram intake on there z and it fit, but then they sayed they think it was an accord. I think it was akimoto racing. I need comformation or any other hybrid ideas thanks.

Okay got to Napa and I think you can order them there and then got to an exhaust shop and have them make you a mounting bracket because it dosen't come with it and then you should be set. I think the intake is a K&N cold air intake

thanx 1980280zx but is napa a website or what and is the intake specificaly for the 280zx (1980) or is it going to just fit.

They don't really make many kits for it, I'm not sure why maybe not much gain in horsepower, but I think the best idea would be to just buy one from www.4wheelparts.com/kn.asp it has free shipping for your first purchase, and only cost 44.95 including tax. If not go to an autozone or advanced autoparts and get one. As far as a modified actual assembly, Take off the plastic part that goes behind the headlight, or drill holes around the air filter box thingie.

 

I am looking for an after market intake like AEM,INGEN,Akimoto Racing, a tube style intake not looking for OEM parts. it does not have to be these brands and it does not have to be made for an 80zx but if it fits and is tube style tell me how I can get it.

Just get the K&N kit from MSA I put one on my 78 it didnt do much until I put the 21/2 exhaust on then I noticed a huge difference in power.

by 2 1/2 you mean all the pipes from exhaust manifold/headers back? how much is that anyways to fabricate one or what not?

 

To have the pipe fabricated from the headers back was 100.00. The Flowmaster was given to me so I dont know the cost on that.

well i have an intake tube from a 2000 - 2001 integra gsr and it fits nice and sits nice ... but if not a regular intake for a 2001 neon will aslo work.(not the cool air intake)

 

so a neon short ram intake will work for my 1980 280zx.

K&N makes and intake for the l28 motor I am not sure of the part number anymore but I know that they used to make one so I would assume that they still do.
