n42head/block

Does anyone know the n42 compression specs. I checked the 1977 FSM but i am not sure if its the right specs for the n42.


i got very low ratings during testing. 2, 57 45, 45, 57, 40.

Is the head attached to the block when you did this? This is below anything even remotely operable for an engine of any sort.

I was going to say 170 +-10, not a 100% on that, but I mean...you are not even playing the same sport, let alone the league with those numbers.

Yes its attached to engine

Yeah I was trying to be semi funny. How are you doing this test? Something is way off if it is this low, your cam timing perhaps, or you have 0 rings.

Just using a basic compression test gauge. Watched the video off youtube of Eric the car guy.

This is going to sound like a stupid question but ...

Does your motor run at all? If it does, I'd suspect the readings, possibly a bad gauge.

I run that combination myself.
The book says 164 to 178 psi.

yes it idles but it hasnt hit the streets and there is white smoke coming from the exhaust still with all new gaskets.
