My first attempt
I took my 78Z onto a 1/4 mile oval to hot lap it. I ran about 20 laps some in 2nd and some in 3rd. 2nd was rapping pretty dam high around 6200. 3rd was a little better. It stayed in the 45-4700 range. My best time was a 65.417 MPH lap. Now my Z only has a K&N intake 21/2 exhaust and am running 225/60/15. I have a motor and suspension transplant planned during the winter. I am hoping to get at least a 70 MPH 1/4 mile oval. The track is a little on the loose side and like i said this is my first time on it. Now I know what i need for a suspension setup.

Re: My first attempt
The only other stock car to come close was a 1984 Camero V8 auto. He ran a 64.719. My goal is to hit 70 mph. It is hard trying to keep your *** end under you. I would like to find a 1/2 mile where you have a little time to go straight. I also plan on doing the road course this spring in Las Vegas.

Try stiffening up your suspension with both front and rear strut bars. Depending on what type of shocks you are running you may want to run a loser shock on your left side. For instance, adjustable gas shocks, etc. Depending on the tires, less grooves, means more traction. Have you tried opening up the exhaust system (no cat, straight 2+ in pipe).
