My first 240Z

I had a 83 280zx that I bought while I was in the Air Force back in 1995. I took it over to Guam and had a blast with the car. The only problem I had with the car was the thermostat went bad and I had to replace it. Other than that, the car was solid. Well, I sold the car because the frame had some rust and body shop on Guam told me it could not be repaired.

Well since then I have missed the car like crazy. So much that I bought a 03 350z for my wife. Although, she lets me drive it whenever I want, it just not the same feel; more power but not the feel I'm looking for.

Just last week, I found a '73 240z for $200 complete with motor and Holley carbs. The body has some rust in the usual places but the frame is solid. This is my very first project car and I have a lot of ideas and visions for this car, but I don't know where to start. Should I start with the engine? or should I start with the body? or Both at the same time?

welcome. post pics. also, start with one of the other, start first with elimintaing the rust or at least stoping its spread. then work on the motor getting it to run right, and making it clean while your at it, then switch back to body, then you can switch back to performance on the engine.

Motor Sport Auto sells a book on how to restore your Z. A good start so you can decide what to do first for your budget. That way you won't be overwelmed with a huge project that you can't drive between steps. Good luck!
