LT1
Has anyone sucessfully installed a Chevy LT1 engine into a 72Z or 83ZXT?? I have both these years of cars and really want to install this conversion on each! Does anyone have pointers for the install(problems) and where, if on-line, I can order a brand new LT1 engine. I know motorsport sells parts for the conversion in a kit? Has anyone used this kit? Did it have everything needed in it? What about a manual trans with the LT1? New rear end?
Thanks for the info,

Yup - here is where you get the conversion manual http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html and then, as others have mentioned, stop over at Hybrid Z http://www.hybridz.org/ Lots of great folks over there that will help. Depending on the torque of your V8 you might not have to replace the rear end. The good news is that the later R200 will bolt right into your '72 Z.
It's a great conversion so good luck!
Not an LT1 but here are some pictures of my 1971 240Z based 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO with a 327 Chevy & T-5 manual transmission http://www.hybridz.org/Review/0002/Ferrari_GTO.htm
