l28 and l28et the same?

Are the l28et and the l28 the same? I have an l28 that just started making a knocking noise (sadly) and I wondering if I get an l28et if I could swap parts from my l28 over to the l28et and if they would work. I know I can keep my transmission but I'm not completely sure what I have to do to make it compatible with the l28et. Would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.
