Re: Interior restoation
just got done with everything in the back and the front, except the dash (ran out of time), or actually I should say the wife just got done, she's the one taking care of that part. What we found was more of a burgundy, but once it was back int the car it was pretty close, I'll get you the brand name and try and get it posted.

Ok, can't find a blasted empty can one and we used like 4 of 'em. AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! Anyway, I know that you can get the stuff at Wal-Mart, O'Reilly's, and Autozone and that it comes in several different basic colors. I think this is actually a dye and not a paint, but I can't remember for sure.

Re: Interior restoation
The paint you're thinking of is Dupli-Color, and it is advertised as an interior vinyl and fabric color. The can says it's good for upholstery, carpet, door panels, seat trim, dashboards. I used it to change my interior color from blue and silver, to grey and black. I painted everything from the steering wheel to the dash cap I installed. It seems to work on plastic, and vinyl about the same. So far it seems to be holding up, but I've only been done with the interior about 2 weeks.

Re: Interior restoation
I have used the Mar Hyde Vinyl spray and it works fine and vinyl and fabric,
but I had horrible luck with it on plastic pieces. I have heard the SEM brand
thats mentioned above is superior to Mar Hyde.

ZX red color
Hi, lol this is a tuff color to match so ..here is my story I used a color from walmarts 2.99 would not match...I was restoring a 83 280zx turbo 2+2 this was 95 i think ...anyway a buddy of mine restored his interior which looked great the color was right on
he had bought the spray can color at k-mart. unifortunatly our kmart here is gone.. so my new alternitve.I restored a 1994 lexus sc400 and had to match a door panel now..this is alot more expensive but for a 16,000. car or your baby"Zcar" it would be worth it right orieilly automotive can custom mix you a colorto match a peice of your interior or your leather in your car.you have to send or take in a peice that they can use the digital thing on.It is a dupont mix and looks really nice has a flat clean finish that is washable cost about 68.00 plus the cost of a jar and arosol canister they carry, think they are 12.00. I also went to my local sign company and bought some metallic vynil to cover the top of my door panels because i was partial too the cloth...nusuede
and wanted to keep the door panels in the zx..sold that 2+ for 3,000...PS preperation is important clean the plastic or whatever the peices are with warm water and a grease cutting dish washing liquid , use a scuff pad that will scuff but not scratch . you can also get this at oreillys..if you don't have an oreily near you that does the paint call 417-624-3525 ask for the paint department...have fun wally

I'm a professional upholsterer. I specialize in z- cars. The bast product available if you want to do it right and only once is made by SEM.The best way is to buy a quart or two and spray through a paint gun however it also comes in aerosol cans.Make sure to gently wetsand everything with 2000 grit or finer. You have to buy it from an automotive paint shop.Buy extra,if you ever have a scratch you can touch it up. It works best on hard plastic. You can dye your door vinyl with it but it dosent last as long.
