I got a new Z

So ever since I joined ZDriver, I had hung my hat in the 280ZX forums, partly because I had a 280ZX and partly because I always envied those who owned a 240Z, 260Z and 280Z so didn't wanna come by to show everyone how green I always was...(obviously that means green with envy as opposed to something like ...being from Mars, ha!)...Then back in December I sold my 280ZX. It was a sad day cause that was my first Zcar after wanting one ever since I can recall.

Needless to say that after selling that car, I still found that I was always on the lookout for a Z, but being in Canada means lesser people, hence lesser cars and of course even lesser first gen body style Zcars.

Well I got lucky and found one. Its a 78 280Z, 5 speed, re-painted once, interior has been partly re-done, and it has had quite a lot of work done mechanicaly.

So anyway, I just thought I would introduce myself around these parts. If anyone would like to, they can check my Z out in the Zgarage. I posted some recent pics.

Its definately nice when all works out!...and the gixxer is old but I never worry about dropping it etc. I have had it since 94 and its been fun all these years so I figured why change. I might have to soon though...because of an older knee injury, I can't keep the old leg bent like that for too long.

and SportBikeMike, I have seen that 07 R1 and read what it can do...so yeah! no surprize you are looking at a trade...good luck and ride safe!

Yeah, the '07s have 5 more rwhp and more importantly, more torque in the midrange. I really like the red one. Only bad thing is I'd have to do the mods all over again....get rid of the mud flaps in the back, get an aftermarket exhaust, get flushmount turn signals, windscreen, etc. etc. Might just stand pat.

I totaly hear ya!

All that work and money to get it just right and then Yamaha does their "totaly new bike every two years" thing and you're left wanting!

You can probably tell from my 92 Gixxer that I subscribe to the theory that if you enjoy it and like the way it looks and feels to you then who cares....keep it until you get tired of it...

Yeah, I'm tryin not to get in the habit of always having to have the "latest and greatest". Lets face it, 99% of the riders will never ride a new R1 anywhere near its potential.

Any sportbike, regardless of age, can be a highly entertaining ride. I had a blast on my first bike, a '93 Katana (aka canatuna)...and it really made me a better rider becaused it required alot of concentration and effort. The new bikes are almost too easy to ride fast.....
