Hybrids
Very cool that there is a forum for this. Now for the age old question... What is a hybrid?
To ME, its putting a non-stock engine in a car. Something that simply wasn't offered when the car was made. Of course, you could also consider toyota brakes, ford starter solonoid, mazda seats, GM heaters, Honda wheels, and stuff like that the hybridizing of a car too.
Some people don't like hybrids. Those people are obviously not engineers like myself.
Try to understand that the Datsun design wasn't perfect, and there are those of us out there that have the knowledge and desire to improve on that design.
You can be sure that anyone doing hybrid type conversions are doing so to improve THEIR OWN driving experience. Whether thought more performance, increased handling, or just for a matter of safety.
So, what do you think constitues a hybrid?

Re: Hybrids
Have to agree with you, Drax, that't why it's called HybridZ. In your definition, just about any modification could be considered a hybrid. I think that the engine/tranny combo pulls the most weight, especially if its from another manufacturer. Cheers!

Re: Hybrids
I would think Hybrids are those that have exchanged the engine for one other than what the factory originally intended to have in the car.

Re: Pear tree
Could use the trunk of the tree for a driveline, and the partrigde as a good luck token to keep it there
Datsun trucks are cool though, I saw one here a while back that some kid had painted up pretty sweet, and had swapped what he said were Fiero seats into it!

Re: Hybrids
I agree. If you modified it by putting in any other motor, it's a HybridZ. Kinda neat keeping it all Nissan. My only contention going with the motor you chose (would be mine too, but $$$$) is that Chevy is much cheaper and more available here in CA. I'm not dumping on your ride at all, Stony, it's VERY impressive, but is just not in my wallet! Hehe
