Help! Twin turbo transplant to 280Z
Can someone lead me to an article about transplanting a 300zx Twin turbo to the 77 Z? I need to know all the problems
that i will be encountering during this process.
Does anyone here knows if the 300zx TT will fit to280Z engine bay and the areas of the problem?
Thanks people

I do know that the 300 twin turbo is too wide to fit in the engine compartement. You will have to notch your frame rails to make it fit. Nothing will bolt up, so you will encounter just about every problem you can think of.

I think that it does fit. I've got a back issue of Z car mag and it has an article on a 77 280 with the 300TT motor. If I recall right, the only thing that he had to relocate was the intercoolers. Very quick setup. If you have a fax number, send it to me, I'll copy the article and get it to you.

Re: Help! Twin turbo transplant to 280Z
I dunno about that...
I've seen both a VG20ET & VG30ET conversions (same block size) & the chassis rails had to be modified for the turbo to fit. There _may_ have been enough room if the turbo was re-located.
Based on that & the fact that with the twin-cam heads the VG30DETT is wider I think that it would be quite a squeeze to fit one in a S30 engine bay.
I believe that you would also have to modifiy the trans tunnel, as the DETT gearbox has a very large bellhousing.
