I can relate to that. My '74 was that bad or worse. I went to jack it up one day and the car stayed stationary and the jack just started disapearing right into the car.

When I finally started getting serious about getting it restored, we ended up deciding that the rust was just too serious. Found a good shell and moved all the electric and mechanicals from my original car to the new shell.

I hated to do that for sentimental reasons, but it would have economically foolish to keep heading down that path.

Bottom line: bite the bullet and try to find as clean a shell as you can. There are still a few out there.

Try contacting Arizona Z Car. If I remember correctly, they have a " yard" full of them. Try getting recycler.com on the internet. there are lots of rust free cars still in So. Calif.
