If you have a 4/5 speed it should be an R200. If it's an Automatic it'll be an R180. But with as old as these cars are it could have been swapped at any time. Check HERE and see if you can figure it out. Shouldn't be hard.

Quick google search renders this:

R200 on the left... R180 on the right:

r-200 is what i have on my 1982 280zx turbo i used sysntec 75-90 gear oil it was expesive as hell for me 17.99 a liter mine took 1.5 liters i used the rest in to clean out anything in the rear gears " GET A GAS MASK ! " that rear gear oil will make u vomit on smell and look alone. At least it made me feel very sick i think it was worse because i heated up the gear oil took it out on the free way then came home and changed it out.

OMG What a Pain in the aZZ... I can not seem to get the mounting nuts loose. Also can not get the drain plug loose either.I am replacing bushings as i am going.

NismoPick 09-01-2007 07:31 PM

Which mounting nuts? The 4 connected to the cross member, or the 2 on the mustache mount? Use an impact gun on the 4 base ones, or a breaker bar. You should also soak them in some PB Blaster for a few, before removing them.

My diff has the two lower plugs with the inset hex-heads like the r200 on the right, but its not so rounded looking and kinda looks like the verticle rectangle shape of the leftward r180... any thoughts on which it might be? I've got an 82 or 83 5spd.

I think you have RIGHT and LEFT mixed up. :D

The R200 is on the left, R180 on the right. If you have an 82-83 w/ 5speed, you have the R200. See this website: http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/
