Hi Rusty---------Well for starters the painter did not use the correct material for chrome----------To paint over chrome one must first clean the chrome of all its wax--------than must use a Chrome Etching primer made exclusively for etching into chrome plated material-----------once that is done you can reprime if need be than paint the desired color..........

Depending on the series of Z you have will also create more dilemmas-------The Z used mainly all chrome with a few Stainless Steel pieces(Mainly on the fancier Z's around the windows)----------The ZX used a combination of Chrome and Stainless Steel---------but mainly Stainless Steel--------You will have to find and etching primer so suited for Stainless Steel if there is one out there----------

Oh yeah there is one more option---------Have all the pieces powder coated to the color you desire------that stuff is nearly undestructable----------and with it being baked on allows the product to increase its adhesive properties, but you may need to ask your local powder coater if this will work on your parts in question........
