Alternator light should be out

Just replaced my failed '77 alternator with a reman from an '82 ZX. The reman alternator is charging perfectly, but the warning light came on after five minutes of driving and won't extinguish.
Puzzling over how to resolve. Looks like the past forums don't cover this particular situation. Suggestions welcomed!

Um, did you jumper out the voltage regulator? The 77 had an external voltage regulator. The 82 had an internal voltage regulator. Have two voltage regulators = FAIL.

Thanks for your reply Steve!
No, I didn't do that, but I did find this post on how to do that which I will try next.

I have actually sourced the 6 pin round connectors, so I make a nicely integrated jumper for when I do the internally regulated alternator swap on 280Zs.
