73 240Z $500??
I didn't see a general question forum, so I am going to ask my question here. I just went by the lemon lot at the air force base that I work on and found a '73 240Z for $500. I called about it to ask the car, and he said that it runs, but on both carbs, the adjustment screws don't have springs and the previous owner had to wire the chokes to make it run decent. Also the blinkers don't work, it needs new tires, and the e-brake doesn't work. I am fairly competent with electronics, I can find out how much appropriate tires would cost, and I could probably fix the brake problem, but I don't know much about these cars engines and carbs. I don't believe that rebuild kits come with springs, so how much could I get used carbs for to take parts off of? How much do new carbs cost? Would it be worth it to look into an upgrade (if available)? I think that 500 is probably a fair price, but my budget requires me to find out how much these thing will cost before I buy. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

IMO, a bigger concern should be looking for rust damage, especially in the frame.

Josh,
I have to agree with Scottie, you should really check the car out for rust first That would be a main concern cause carbs are easy to fix and find parts for, well sortav. As far as SU parts rebuilding them or getting a nice new set contact or check out Ztherapy.com. Scott at Ztherapy.com is really a cool person to deal with and he should be able to get everything you need, and you might want to order the SU tuning video which covers everything about rebuilding and tuning SU's to run them properly. A new set of SU's runs 550 and are really pretty! A rebuild kit I think its 100 or 150 well worth it though comes with everything you need
best of luck!
