Re: 280z keeps shutting off
Check to see if your getting fuel to the fuel rail and then check for spark. Your fuel pump may be crapping out. Remove the fuel hose going into the rail and stick the end into a plastic soda bottle. Crank the engine and see if your getting fuel after a few seconds. if not check the fuel pump, it's at the back of the car right next to the tank. If you are getting gas check the ignition system. Pull off one spark plug wire, insert a long screwdriver into the boot and have someone crank the ignition while you hold the screw driver real close to the engine. You should see a nice strong blue spark, if not investigate the ignition system.

Re: 280z keeps shutting off
Ideas...there can be many causes...fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, bad spark, bad coil, if there is decent spark then you probably have a malfunction of one of the fuel system components.
Re: 280z keeps shutting off
Thanks for all of your help so far I am still working on it.
I do have spark to the dist. and to the spark plugs. The fuel is being pump out from the fuel filter. Will 1978 280z ignition parts fit the 76? they appear to have the same engine. I have just go a hold of all a 1978's electronic parts ECU ect.
Thanks again folks for any suggestion short of shooting my car.
