Except everything is on the wrong side of the car, oh, and it's NOT a Fairlady... other than the major distinguishing factors, it's close.

Nice work snow, great job on that Z. You really have a knack for these cars. Especially with the paint and body. That is where I suck. I can do pretty well, with the mechanical, and electrical. But when it comes to bodywork and paint. I am no good at it. Anyway looking forward to seeing the Z lowered. Good luck

thanks er' body. and wildman, practice. if you get the $$$ to get a paint gun setup. just start practicing using thined out urethane paints on random body pieces. its much easier to work with, cheaper, and then you can get good spray pattern practice. as for the drop, its on hold, because i need to get my header first. any one got an MSA header? or even just the Y pipe for it? lol. cause i now plan on just finishing the exterior ALL at once, i already have prepped and painted tie rods, from swing arms, engine cradle, and steering rack. so i want to pull the motor, clean and paint the block. then touch up any thing in the engine bay. swap out ALL the suspension/crossmember/steering rack stuff and finish the under coating. then get the new exhaust and polished N42 intake in there. than i'll have me a show car minus the seats. lol. so itll be prolly the end of february now when thats all said and done. ill do a write-up for that to just like how i did my rear subframe, which never got stikied

EDIT: actually lookin at teh pic the driver side does look like a hair lower huh? ill have to check that out, im fairly positive its just the angle and lighting.... but i see what you mean. ill check that out for sure..... i dont see how it could be low though lol. its got all the bolts and nuts on it..... hmmm

3) the side badges wer re-usable!!!! only lost one of the middle studs so no harm done.
I'm glad, and amazed, you were able to reuse the side badges. Very nice! All but one of the pins on each of mine broke. But the badges themselves were so dried out and faded I was surprised they didn't just turn to dust. Now I have to buy two of 'em, $$$. Oh well. Yours look great! I thought maybe it was just the angle and lighting, but just wanted to ask. I had no adjustment room with mine and was glad they lined up nicely after the repair work I had to do. Hope you get a spring thaw soon for some driving fun.

Sounds familiar. Biked to work in -3 degrees two weeks ago, in the snow last week and this week, but last weekend was 50 degrees, and this weekend it's supposed to hit maybe 60. Weird. Hope you didn't get any of those storms/tornadoes. Looked like a real mess. I thought you'd already done that motor, but am I mixing it up with your 260 project?

260 project was a swap motor. it was painted, and shiney bright silver metallic. lol! this time i want to go black. stealthy. clean. thinking black gloss block, black powder coated N42 polished vavle cover. something typical yet clean. just need to get rid of my pallnet 14mm O-ring fuel rail and get like a stock injector JSK one or w/e. or make my own.... some how. haha. i wish the 260 was going to have the under body and suspension the 280 is going to have. it would definatly make me happy, and also bring up my sale price on it. and yeah it just started snowing here. massively. might be thinning out though. the wind is outta control though. gusting to 31 kts!!!! (sorry for the kts its the pilot thing lol. its how i work these days)

Oh, that's right. Makes sense to clean it up nice while you're doing the swap anyway. I went with Old Ford Blue on mine (close-ish to Datsun original, but nicer, I think). Darrel convinced me to powder coat basically everything else, and I'm glad I spent the money and time, it came out great. I was going to do black, but a friend pointed out what a pain it was to find any kind of leaks on a black block. I have an original fuel rail for a '78, but it badly needs to be replated, and it's just to big for the "$70 for everything you can fit in the bucket" deal that my plating guy offers. I bought a Pallnet with gauge and CSV openings to avoid the whole mess. Cleaner setup anyway. At least, that's how I justified it.

No prob with the kts! I keep this open on my desktop at work:

Good luck with the wind. 31 kts is a lot by Illinois standards, no? It's already started here, and supposed to get up to 80 mph. Hope it slows down a bit before heading across the plains to you.
cheers,
Dave
