1983 280ZX mods, help!
I'm currently working on a 280ZX and i'm wondering what you guys would do to improve performance on this car. I'm looking for a general guide on what modifications to make and in what order, basically so I can work on it slowly and make as few mistakes as I can. Mistakes cost me money
I want to leave the original motor in there (fuel injected version) and take things one step at a time where possible. This car is definately not going to be my daily driver, so feel free to list some track modifications.
Thanks in advance.

...depends on what you want....
1st figure how much you want to spend..and the target hp..
..i had my engine rebuilt, new turbo,injectors,clutch....(i plan on keeping it for a long time so what the heck)..
..i removed the air filter assy and replaced it w.k+n...(didnt do much..but it will)...next i need to get a high flow exhaust....i have gotten (i redid my dash) new gauges (boost + fuel pressure)....once you get this far you'll need a good intercooler and boost controller and adjustable pop-off,or blow-off,bypass valve....(i got a bypass that will also serve as a pop-off)...then youre ready to rock&roll (@least up to 10-12psi boost)....if you want more than that you have to get more fuel...you'll need ($$$) a new fuel pump and regulator...you can either put in larger injectors and get an aftermarket ecu/fuel controller....or an additional injector unit that lets you add injectors (and controls "them")..bigger turbo...then maybe hardened engine internals (if youre really gonna get large)...both ways are expensive...
..i'd put in the exhaust, gauges, intercooler, boost controller, and pop-off or bypass/pop-off....and see how you like "that"....
....you can do that cheap..and it may be enough (for a little while anyway). ..s
