L28 Pistons

So I took my N47 block to the machine shop to remove a stud that was broken off in the block. The cylinders also had some pretty bad wear, they recommended boring it 20 over. I can always buy another block and use my stock internals which are all in great shape...but I like the idea of working with this one and doing some modding. What pistons are recommended??? I dont mind spending a little money if the gains are worth it. I also need to buy a clutch. Will I gain anything from a performance clutch or expensive pistons? Please chime in and point me in the right direction of what I should buy and where to get it from. BTW the machine shop quoted me $400 for pistons and couldnt even tell me where they were from.

Maybe you should try a diff machine shop? Was this an old guy who has worked on Chevy motors his whole life, or a Japanese motor shop?

I know Nissan stopped making the .020 over bored pistons for the L28ET, but I don't know if they still make the flat tops. Have you checked Nissan, MSA, BDA?

ITM is a "fairly" good aftermarket company & they sell .020 pistons ($192 for pistons & rings here):

Unless you are going w/ a high hp motor, there is no need for forged pistons.

I had my block done this way they over bored it .20" and used flat top pistons... What head are you using? If you use the n47 head ur going to raise the compression... Not necessarily a bad thing I forget why brand mine were but needless the motor came out great but now I'm moving on so I'm selling my motor

Cheap HP

I'm getting back my block from the machine shop some time next week...I'm putting together a fresh machined N47 head block bored .020 over w/ ITM flat pistons new water pump bearings all gaskets etc. Engine will be as good as new. While I have it all apart, what upgrades are recommended? I was looking into maybe a performance camshaft or a lightweight flywheel. I get discounts on parts and free labor What do you guys recommend?

N47 head. I got mine from a machine shop so I'm not really sure how much they cut it...It doesn't seem like much though. I'm putting it together next week hopefully, I'll do a compression test. How does it run by the way? Happy with the results at all?

ya it was good i think shady's is built the same way if iremember correctly.... just HAVE to un 91 it was fun till i moved out left the car, it sat for 4 years and is now being parted out....its probably not necessary but i ran a turbo oil pump since the compression ratio went up and stress on some of the internals...
