if you're buying a new timing set...

The motor assembly is going very nicely. Head's all set up and installed, bottom end is perfect, etc. Time to put on my new timing chain, sprockets, tensioner, and guides. Open the box, getting the parts lined up, crankshaft sprocket slides on perfectly, grab the chain and find the bright links... okay, find the bright links... maybe they're on the other side... Nope... center plates... no, not there either.

Be aware, PCI timing sets seem to be pretty nice parts, but they do not have the timing links marked. You'll have to count and mark them yourself. Thankfully, I don't dispose of any part until the new one is totally installed, so I can just do a side-by-side with the old one and count to double check.
