First start problem, sparked then burned wire to starter

Okay so the second I touched the positive to the battery the wire from the ignition to the starter sparked and i heard a clicking noise almost like a fuel injector firing...I didn't attempt to crank it I dont want to hurt it any more.

Double / triple check your wiring, relays, and fuses...

theramz 06-12-2009 09:46 PM

Seems like a dead short to ground possibly in the ign switch.

I did, and everything is perfect to this diagram (minus inhibitor relay)

I grounded the ecu, but there were no grounds in the ignition switch.

okay you can STOP watching after 30 seconds, then i just do laps around teh car.

NismoPick 06-19-2009 11:28 AM

I'm glad I just watched you walk around the car like three times. :D

Sounds like either the starter is dead, or you have a bad battery connection...

thetremendousti 06-20-2009 10:20 AM

welp i took it to kragen and got the starter tested. GODD*** piece of **** solenoid was burned somehow. THATS JUST GREAT good thing i'm MADE of $110 bills. man this sucks

thetremendousti 06-20-2009 04:41 PM

by the way this is what happened with my starter situation. I went to get the solenoid repaired at RZ starter and alternators and I got there and he plugged positive and ignition and the damn starter ran like a well oiled machine. yep. then i went back to kragen on my way home still mystified how it wasn't working yesterday and he tested an it was PASS on everything. I made him do it two more times and it was perfect. So, why didn't it work in the first place? i have no idea. i really have no idea.

NismoPick 06-20-2009 07:52 PM

Because it's probably your fubar'd wiring....

snwbrderphat540 06-22-2009 11:00 AM

possible ^^^^ also could be a burnt fusible link or a bad positive or negative wire on the battery since they hook directly to the starter. if your using the old battery terminal wires i'd replace them. then check the two fusible links right by the battery.
