Brake Pedal Travel Toooooo Farrrrrrrrrr

The entire system has been rebuilt. I have No leaks or any air in the lines, but my pedal travels too far before brake engagement. Do early z cars have adjustable brake boosters? I figure I'd ask before pulling my master cylinder.

So you for sure bled all four corners AND the master cylinder??? Even if you bleed all four corners, it won't do much until you bleed the master...

Also, make sure the pedal is adjusted properly. It might have some slack in it.

Can you pump the pedal up, or is it ALWAYS travelling too far?????

If you can pump it up, then it goes down... It's either a leak, or air in the lines. If you can't pump it up... It probably needs to be adjusted.

Rod.

P.S.

What year car are we talking about here?

If it is an older Z with rear drum brakes, you might need to crank up the adjustment on the rear shoes.

if you removed the booster or pulled the rod that extends into the booster from the engine side, you have dropped a spacer . There is a spacer that the rod rides into and if you have pulled the rod forward the spacer will drop down. Now when all is assembled the brake peddle will go to the floor. If you are vary lucky , you will able to shake the boster and feel the spacer to the center and place the shaft on it . otherwise , either open the booster and replace the part in its place . or replace the booster. I know because I pulled the rod and the spacer dropped out of place on my booster. I was able to position everything in it's proper place with out opening the booster. Good luck with this. Gary

Pedal Travel

The car is a 1st gen 70 z. I do not believe it is a hydraulic issue because the pressure is constant (all corners and the master were bled). The pedal just travels too far. Regarding the rear brake adjustment, the emergency brake works fine, wouldn't that be affected if the rear adjustment was too far out? I'll check the pedal adjustment and if that isn't out of whack, I'll check the booster (I did have the booster completely off, so I'll pull it again and check the spacer suggestion).
