74 260z cold start issues

I have never owned a z car before and ran intoa great deal. I purchased a 74 260z that looks good and runs fine, after I get it started. I have to use starting fluid sprayed into the carbs to get it to fire. Once fired, it will run and start fine. I need to do some minor interior work and put some brakes on it before I register it on the road. I am looking forward to having some fun with this.

That little lever in the center cosole is the choke. Pull it full back when cold. Make sure its connected to the carbs.

Thanks for responding. I have used the choke and it works somewhat. I pull all the way back when cold and still have to "spray" the carbs to get it to fire. After it starts I let it warm up with the choke on and slowly lower the choke until running good. Is there any adjustment on the choke. Maybe it isn't closing the throat all the way? I have to replace all the brakes also. Which rotors/pads are better than others?
