Lightbulb 280Z fuel tank to ZX fuel tank?

Has anyone ever tried to use a 280ZX fuel tank in their 280Z? I have access to a good used 280ZX fuel tank, but no longer have my rusted out stock fuel tank for comparison. Any idea how close they are or would it be just as easy to put in a fuel cell?

Nope, not going to work without modification. The first generation Z's have a completely different mounting, plumbing and shape than the ZX's.

Anytime someone swaps a ZX motor into a 240 or 260 Z they usually swap in a 280Z fuel tank, modify their existing tank or have a new tank built from scratch.

Another alternative, and one that a friend of mine used was to measure the space under the rear deck and go to a junk yard with a tape measure.

He did an LS1 conversion and ran custom dual exhaust down the center of the rear so he either needed to convert to a fuel cell or find another FI capable fuel tank.

He ended up with a fuel tank from a Suzuki Samurai!

Good luck!

S-130 fuel tank swap

I think it will not fit and it's only a 2gals difference. Zx tanks are wider and flatter than S-30 z's.
