Hey All, New owner of a 1972 240Z, I am in the process of striping it down to do some sanding and body work on it ... But I can't seem to get these stupid pins to come out with out scratching the **** out of my interior panels (which I don't want to do) Any advice for removing these stupid things with out breaking them and breaking the panels ?????

If you're talking about the plastic rivets, poke the center out with a small punch or flattened nail and drive them thru. Then you can take the rest of the rivet out.

Ditto Darrel's notes. A slightly blunted 4d finish nail works great. Just round the tip with a grinder/dremel/file/sandpaper so it's not so sharp as to split the plastic pin. Don't plan on being able to reuse many, if any, of the rivets. But new ones are cheap anyway.

Thanks guys .. I was trying to pull the pins out last night with needle nose pliers and having a hell of a time .. I will try the finishing nail method tonight.

You can reuse them if you can find the pin after you drive it through. Like dave said, you can still get the new rivets if the old ones are brittle from old age.
