I am trying to restore a 1974 260Z here in Washington state. Due to the location I am dealing with a lot of rust issues. I have taken care of most of them but I have a question regarding front inner fender liners. I recently took my fenders off to be media blasted so I can weld in new repair panels and I found a lot of rust on the inner/upper fender area. It was caked with years of dried mud. I have fixed the rust issues, but I was wondering if these cars originally came with any kind of fender liner to prevent dirt from getting in there.
Any help will be appreciated.

 

Look at parts 79 and 80. Datsun Z Front Fender, Hood Ledge & Hood (2 Seater) (From Aug.-'73)
They are NLA and more rare on the used market than unicorn farts.

 

I had both an early and late model 260Z. The early one did not have fender liners and the late model did. The early version didn't even have mounting holes so I don't think they were just missing. My later car has all the liners.
