So pretty much the easiest swap ever. Took me 3 days to get it swapped fab work and everything. The biggest problem was the oil pan had to be converted to a rear sump rather than a foward sump. I just made an entire new oilpan for it. The mounts are a complete bolt in on the 4 reinforced bolt holes on the frame. Trans mount is the stock 280zx mount and the 240 mount together. I still have to do little stuff and get the driveshaft made but thats easy. Cant wait to get this weight distribution to work plan on swapping to a sr and saving alot of weight also.. and i promise the car dont look as bad in person and it does in pictures lol..

Thread approved. Props on the work!

The only downsides that I see are:
#1: The stock 280zx has almost perfect 50/50 weight dist. Pushing the engine balance back, and lightening it, throws off that dist, which then has to be made up by modifying / changing other things.

#2: The KA / SR motors don't have near the torque potential that the L28E / L28ET has.

big second^^^^

plus why even use that turd of a single cam engine? SR an S30 or turbo ka24de... but screw the single cam, and for the weight of the S130, not worth sticking a 4 cylinder in it

but you did do good fab work so don't take my post as negative towards you lol. Ever start making SR or RB engine/trans mounts for the S30 i'd be interested. lol. if they were priced right.

hey good new the sr and ka have same mounts and 280s share the same mounts too right?? i may be wrong but if a l28et is swappable into a s30 then vice versa right?? good news for you s30 has crossmembers that arent in the way so all you would have to do is get a set of these mounts.. and you wouldnt have to worry about the oil pan mess.

i would have used a sr or de but the oil pickup is in the front of the block hince why i used a 24e which has the pickup in the middle of the block. i plan on swapping to a sr since its the same mounts but i have to do some fab on the oil pickup to run all the way to the front of the pan or just switch up to a dry sump system. this will get my dat moving for now and besides i got turbo goodies laying around for it. another + i got $267 into this swap so far

and as far as power compared to l series

l28= 145 hp 156 ft/lbs weight 523 lbs
ka= 140 hp 152 ft/lbs weight 389lbs

^^ pretty equal to stock when weight comes into consideration.

but yes the sr is such a beautiful motor

Yeah they all share the same mounts... Why not just start with the SR right out? unless you want to stick with the single cam K motor, seems that way since you are mounting a procharger. lol. This is def interesting, but me in your position, I'd be DYING for the DOHC. haha

like i say i got $267 in the whole deal so far...and besides i mounted the procharger off of the stock ac location and my bet is that on the de and the sr it will still work. i might be wrong but i can always make another bracket lol. plus im still making plans on a dry sump system for a sr. cause the oil pickup comes out of the front of the block instead of the middle like the 24e. which wont work with the whole xmember issues im having with this swap. and the procharger was a freebie. i know this guy who owns a shop came by and was looking at the swap and said if i sport his sticker i can have the procharger so i said deal real quick lol. hes also doing alot of other stuff for it. gave me tein coilovers, the procharger and bleedoff valve, a rouge style supercharger and hes gonna tune it for me..... and thanks its a rubber ant with a hat on the dipstick lol

Very interesting build so far! I like it.

Any more pics on the details; motor and trans mounts,oilpan,ect.?

The "Procharger" is a project of interest to me also. I've collected a bunch of info and
pics of different versions of homemade belt driven turbos and would like to know more about this one.
