Unknown Cable/Wire From Firewall
Could anyone tell me what this cable is for? It is routed through the firewall on the driver's side of the car. The previous owner had stuffed the end of the cable down into the front bumper, and capped off the end with a whole bunch of gooey putty. Vehicle is a 1984 300ZX Turbo.

Yes, it does look like a speedometer cable. I have a digital dash and it is working normally. As I said, the previous owner left it stuffed inside the front bumper so I have no clue where it goes. Checked my FSM and there's no diagram or mention of the part in it.

well, I am not sure what else it could be.. you say one end was tucked in the bumper and the other goes through that hole in the firewall, right? That looks just like the spot where the speedometer cable for analog dash goes. Is that hole in the firewall lined up with the gauge cluster?

Someone else mentioned it could be the cable to a CB radio antenna. I traced the cable through the firewall underneath the dash. The end of the cable was connected to nothing, so it's possible the previous owner had a CB or Ham radio in the car at some point.
