As of yesterday I am now the proud owner of 1979 datsun 280zx. I managed to pick it up for $300 Australian dollars with only 70,000 kilometers on the metre, sadly it doesn't run but it won't need to much to get it running, my concern however is the interior of the car is quite messy and the dash is all cracked up from heat all the plastics are lose and out of shape, there's a bit of surface rust on the body and needs a new front right panel and doors due to a crappy Bog job which previous owners have applied straight over rusted dints. It needs live and care I know all this but I absolutely love these cars and could not resist for 300 seeing as it has the original rims, brand new tyres, and a low Kms engine I knew if all else failed I could get my $300 back selling those if need be.

This is my first ever project car and the first car I've planned to work on extensively, I do not have much knowledge about cars but I plan to learn by fixing this sexy little thang up!

Any help, tips and opinions would be greatly appreciated as to how I even begin to tackle this this with the little knowledge I have, I've also downloaded all the manuals and such and I'm currently reading up on them. Thank you

Sounds like you got an incredible deal. Almost every step in tearing these cars down and modifying them can be found in this forum, probably no question you can ask hasn't been gone over 1000 times, so do a Google search for ZDriver stuff, IMHO the built in site search engine is weak and gives to many bad results. If after all else fails drop us a question, most likely one of the site Guru's will know the answer. Things like the cracked dash, guys have figure out a low budget method of doing a little body work on the dash, a little texture and paint and walla a new dash.
