Battery exploded in Engine Bay
Hi all,
I am a new 240Z owner and I haven't yet done any body work on my car yet. I started it up the other day and something really bad happened.... The battery exploded in my engine bay because it wasn't properly tied down. It fell and hit the engine while idling and exploded and spewed battery acid everywhere.
I immediately hit the entire engine bay with baking-soda water and cleaned everything up. A few days later my spark plug cables were tattered and my alternator belt had snapped.
I'm feeling very anxious about the fact that there's probably still acid in there. I want to completely clean out the engine bay and re-seal it to protect it from rust.
Do you guys recommend I pull everything out? How do you recommend that I clean/seal the sheet metal?
Thanks,
Brian

Welcome to ZDriver!
If it happened a couple days ago, the damage has already been done... So check wires, everything plastic, and check for flaking paint / seam sealer.
And now you know to keep your battery secured.
