I'm probably going to head out right after street wars so that I can get to Performance Nissan first thing in the morning. I'm also going to get my ECU reflashed Friday if time permits.

What time are are you guys heading out? Do you have an address for wherever the TT Z is going to be?

Gonna get my differential swapped. Going from my 3.2 final drive to a 3.5.

Better be careful man, I may be faster than you by the time I'm done.

Holy crap I'm spending a lot of money on this car...

Stop "mini-modding" it. Take the plunge and go FI!

I did some research on what I would want to buy for the Miata project.
Racing brake rotors, calipers, pads, frame stiffening, new rims and track tires, new exhaust, Flyin' Miata IIa Turbo system with ECU replacement, rollcage, new springs, shocks, sway bars, strut bars, clutch, flywheel, port polish, radiator, and miscellaneous little stuff. I will also do some weight reduction work, but that will not cost me much (losing AC and lots of interior amenities)

Only around $12k, haha...should net me a 2100 lb. car with around 250WHP with insane handling. That's an 8.3 lb./HP ratio with a skidpad of more than 1.0 G. Wait, that's kinda cool! To get that ratio from a G, you would have to have to be putting 400+WHP to the road.

And I'm not messing with my daily driver...It will be sad day when my G is considered my "slow" car!

That's a good project car. When are you going to get started on it?

As soon as a 2006 Miata that has the options we want is in our garage. We will prolly place an order in August with delivery in Sept. or Oct. I might start working on the suspension before that though. After talking to the guys at Flyin Miata, I might be able to shave about $2k off of the total cost because of stuff I thought I needed but do not. I can't wait to start on it. It's going to be a long summer watching everyone else mod their cars while I wait!

I will almost guarantee that you will be faster than me. If you get your ECU reflashed then the only thing I have that you wouldn't would be a plenum. And your final drive swap will out perform that any day. Is thare a reason that you are going with the 3.5 as opposed to the 3.9?

It seems like a better compromise. Since it's still my daily driver I don't want to sacrafice too much of my gas mileage. Remember that I don't have a 6th gear. Plus they are giving me a hell of a deal on a used (1500 miles) differential that came off of a stock 6MT 350Z.

That will leave me with my old differential that I can rebuild to the 3.9 and swap if I were so inclined.

I'll be heading out Saturday around 8am or so, should be in LA by noon. Anyone else going? The more hands on these machines the better, and better videos. Ty, I'll PM you my number. The Z with the APS single turbo is at:

Brainstorm Performance Inc
12568 W. Washington Blvd
Los Angeles CA 90066
Ph: (310) 313 0088

Mapquest it. I'll be down to roll out to LBC that night, too.

Hmmm...Brainstorm is a big Miata aftermarket shop. Might be interested in rolling down if I can hitch a ride with someone.

Sure - you can ride with me - I plan on leaving around 8am and most likely on the way back to Vegas by 4pm. If I get to Brainstorm around noon that leaves a few hours to drive the APS single turbo Z and the G35 APS twin turbo.

Well, the f'n place in LA has flip-flopped for the last time and they won't have the Z available to drive this weekend. So I won't be going, at least not this weekend. Sorry Brian.
The guy at that place was asking me to commit to getting the turbo installed there just to do a drive, so now I'm not too sure I want to even go to their shop.
I'll most likely go to Dyno-Comp like zztop. The guy in LA's shop rate is $75 an hour anyway. F that.
