Paint cost

I'm about to buy a body kit for the car in the next few weeks. What is the average cost I should be seeing when painting it? Its a full front bumper, rear bumper, and skirts.

roneski Feb 14, 2007 05:21 AM

Depends on how much prep they have to do on the parts, but I'd guess anywhere from $500-$800.

SinCity350Z Feb 14, 2007 07:26 AM

Hahaha, yeah right. I would say $1200 - $1500

skittle Feb 14, 2007 07:29 AM

maaco 300.... hehehe don't even think about using them

NismoPick Feb 14, 2007 07:34 AM

If you're worried about cost, do the prep work yourself.

SportBikeMike Feb 14, 2007 07:51 AM

I had my Nismo bodykit and rear wing painted for $450.

Bleach Feb 14, 2007 09:05 AM

wow, around here the 350Z owners have told me $1500-3000! and the 3 grand was a crap job. The shop sucked. (those prices include installation)

roneski Feb 14, 2007 09:52 AM

Are we talking about just paint or full install?

Nforce1 Feb 14, 2007 10:04 AM

1 quart with clear and everything needed for that 1 quart will run you about $120 .. and thats the good paint, dupont

1 quart will get you like, hood and front bumper. So that should be enough do do a body kit.

SportBikeMike Feb 14, 2007 10:07 AM

They charged me $450 for the labor and another $150 for the paint, so it was $600 total for installation and paint....and they did a great job. This is my regular body shop and they did give me a discount....I think they said its normally $600 or so for the labor.

Bleach Feb 14, 2007 12:12 PM

the price I said was paint match and full installation for a full bodykit with rear spoiler

When my car was hit a while ago, the shop charged their insurance $400 just to color match (paint) the fender. Labor to fix the dent was a couple hundred. The paint on that fender is good quality. Outlasted the rest of the car's paint. :D

You guys have it cheap down there!

Smittyz33 Feb 14, 2007 01:42 PM

I paid 2200 for full fitting, prep, install and paint minus about 800 for misc dings that I had fixed in conjunction. So, around 1400 for the full bodykit. They did crap work the first time, but when I brought it back to be repainted (under warranty), they did a much better job.

It was that shop, you know, the one that shall not be named on this forum...

SinCity350Z Feb 14, 2007 02:10 PM

^^^Thats BS because that same shop charged me $1500 and I didn't even have a full front and rear bumper for them to paint and fit, just a lip, side, underwings, and an already painted spoiler to install. What dicks.

Smittyz33 Feb 14, 2007 03:12 PM

Dude that's shady. 702 Beware!!!

crabbey1 Feb 14, 2007 09:06 PM

I just got a quote from a spot here in Vegas and they wanted $1500 for prep and paint. I am doing the install...

702Fairlady Feb 15, 2007 12:20 AM

I'm pretty sure thsat I will be able to cover the install, if not I can probably get a little help. I just need the prep and paint I guess.

Smittyz33 Feb 15, 2007 09:45 AM

No matter how good the kit is, you're going to have some fitment issues with full bumper replacements. Best leave it to the pros...

So where did you go and how much? I'm looking at getting a kit and getting it completely done by them.

702Fairlady Mar 15, 2007 12:44 AM

I took my car down to spring mountain auto body on Spring Mtn. and jones. Normal price is like 1200 for normal install and paint. I am going to have to pay another 300-400 for fiberglass fabrication due to some bigger gaps that have to be filled and sculpted. But if you get a kit that fits pretty damn good youd probably be lookin at 1200.

showtypeZ Mar 15, 2007 12:05 PM

You went with the JP kit? Cool, that price isn't too bad.

702Fairlady Mar 15, 2007 12:12 PM

Naw I went with an INGS rep.
