E85 Gas
Anybody tried that new E85 gas? I guess that it's a mixture ethanol and gas 105 octane for the cost of regular gas (89 octane) I was told that only two stations in vegas carry it so far. One of them is at Vegas drive and Decatur. I hear it works great but that it's just and bit harder on rubber that normal dual fuels.

sounds interesting... so it's equivalent or better than 91?

105. better.

It stays 105 octane after being mixed with that much ethanol? Maybe ethanol has a naturally high octane though. Hmmm...

After doing some research... yes this is how I am spending my Friday night... it seems that only the vehicle that Nissan currently is importing to be considered a "flexible fuel vehicle" is the Titan, and then only if the fourth character in the VIN is a B. So I probably wouldn't try it.
Here's a list of vehicles from the NEVC. |
Ethanol is the devil. It's killed so many fuel injectors on the Z32 it's not even funny. You couldn't pay me to use this crap.

That's probably because your entire fuel system isn't designed for E85.
I found this thread again because E85 was at $2.14 at Huey's on Vegas & Decatur. I checked my VIN and it says "D" as the 8th digit character. I guess our cars are not made for that type of fuel yet. Also, if you look at your owner's manual, page 9-3 has the fuel recommendation. For those who run 440 lb injectors *cough, MIKE*, have you thought of running E85 over race fuel? |
