Blacking-out Headlights and Tailights...

I am gonna do mine sometime next weekend-ish... I have to wait for the new tails to come in. They should be in Thurs or Fri, I have been told...

I was thinking that this could be a good group tech session also... Anyone else interested in doing theirs? Anyone, who has done theirs, wanna come and give tips?

I think it would be a cool little tech. session. What do you mean by "blacked-out." I'm interested but can't decide whether I want to do black out color-matched white.

Truthfully I mean whatever that means to you...

What I am doing is paint the inside of the heads and tails Matte Black... (I am getting Clear Tails)

I am considering doing a slight tint on the ouer lense as well... Maybe 50%

Thats what I thought...still interested.
You could do yours first, than once your done making any mistakes your gonna make...you could help me with mine, lol, jk.

I don't know if you remember little Travis that went with us up to Track days at Spring Mountain, but he's done a bunch. He did Kris's (EVO IX) headlights.
Are you doing the inside of the assembly or the exterior. If you're doing the inside, you heat up the adhesive seal and carefully pry it apart. Do your painting and then heat it back up and re-seal it. Let it cool and reinstall in the car. If you painting the exterior, you need to make sure you get the right paint.

you guys posted quicker than I could type. lol

crabbey1 Apr 13, 2007 03:39 PM

Hahahaha... Cool...

Yeah, I heard that it is a tint... That youtube video details doing the exterior very well... And the interiors seem to be self explainatory...

showtypeZ Apr 13, 2007 03:41 PM

Yeah, I recommend doing the interior because there is less of a chance it will scratch off causing you to have to redone it all over again.

Just to be clear you are going to do it like this http://clearcorners.com/products/nis...mp1/MT0_01.jpg with possible tint. What year is your Z.

showtypeZ Apr 13, 2007 03:48 PM

Except his isn't an 03-05 light assembly. His is an 06-07.

crabbey1 Apr 13, 2007 03:50 PM

Yeah that is basically it... I might tint the outer clear cover as well...

Gottcha! Be interesting to see '06 lights in black.

I am buying a set of 06 tails next week and tinting them with tint I already have precut. My 03 tails are already tinted and I did them myself, but the LED are gonna be HAWT!
