The beginner class will be a very safe and controlled sessions. Its probably safer than driving down craig in traffic.

Sorry passengers are not allowed.

Drive.

I promise you will learn something, and probably have fun too.
You are guranteed to be a better/safer/faster driver at the end of the day.

I will be instructing on Saturday.
See ya there.

Hey John, where can we pre-register? Also, if I can talk Kelli into going can you be her instructor?

Thats the biggest cop-out ever. You are not going to break your car if you don't go beyond your personal comfort levels. Besides, there aren't any ladders lying in the middle of the track for you to hit .

The 1st post on this thread has all the info. Go to the LVR-PCA web site. http://www.lvrpca.com/events.html I bet you already have it bookmarked.

It would be my pleasure to instruct Kelli. Girls are usually better students than guys. They don't have ego's and testosterone to deal with.

terrasmak - if you are a beginning student you will be assigned an instructor. He will sign you off after you have demonstrated the skills to get around the track safely (usually after lunch). Instructors are available anytime you want one, in any of the run groups. There is no shame. Even Michael Schumacker has a coach. The purpose of the event is to be safe, to learn and to have fun. Having a guide will help you achieve those goals. You need to learn track protocol, not just how to drive fast.

IMHO every driver should be required to attend a driving class, especially if they have a high preformance car. This is not a racing school. This event will teach you how to be a safer driver. So what are you going to do when somebodys bumper comes off in front of you? Run over it? Try to steer around it and hit a light pole instead? This class will give you the skills and the knowledge to deal with any driving situation. You will learn what your car is capable of and how to more fully enjoy it.

I wanted to try out the new Toyo's on the Z, but the PCA is doing an *official* group photo at noon so I'll bring the VW.

Hey John, what does it take to instruct at these? What do you get out of it besides helping people learn to drive? Do you get free entry? Discounted Entry?

The PCA has a National Licensing Program. If you have enough experience at the Advanced level you pay to take a weekend class. (@ $300 + your car, not theirs)

I get a discount on my entry at local PCA events. Other regions and orginizations have different policies. I really do enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion with others. Plus I get to drive other peoples cool cars on a race track.

A couple times a year I get a call out of the blue from some car club that is having an event in town. I have been offered free track time in exchange for instructing from groups like the Mini Coopers, Pantaras, Vipers, and other clubs. I have also exchanged my services in lieu of entry fees at other private 'for profit' D.E. events like Track Quest.

Oh, nice! I will have to look into that.

Hey, on the pre-reg form it asks "Would you like a check-out ride?" What the hell is that?

It is to ask for an Instructor to go out with you.
It's a good idea if you have any questions or your 1st time at a new track. At any time anyone can ask for an instructor. Asking for a check-out ride on the entry form is just a way to be sure to reserve an instructor for the 1st session.
