hockenheim 1/4 mile

Went to hockenheimring this morning for public drag day, offical time at 10psi for a 1/4 mile was 14.02 my traction was horable spun my wheels through 3rd (had a bad burn out my breaks couldnt hold me still because of runing the ring) but not a bad time for first 1/4 mile run, I would have done more but there was alot of people and I spent the morning in line and wanted to watch, Fastest car on the track was a 50's belair at 8.27 no bike could even touch him heheh.

Not bad but sounds like you need to leave a little softer and power thru the gears. Still not a bad time, Chase's car ran the 1/4 @ 14.4 all motor and 12.96 on spray on street tire's. Glad to hear you got it on a track finally!:icon_super:

Get better traction! You should be running a 13.02 with that engine. :)

yea

traction was the problem it was a cool day with an over cast track temp was not the best, and like I said I wasnt able to get a good smoke show going my brakes wernt holding me, not to menchion Im not verry good on the drag strip yet lol that was only my second time ever draggin from a tree. Last time was with bill that Greer before I brought the car here. My RT is not verry good yet I saw a guy get a 0.02 And I got a 1.38 or something I think a fell asleep or something!

Mustangs generally are severely traction limited. Although I haven't done it, it's been said the best way to get a close to stock one to leave the line is to rev it to about 2500 at the tree side step the clutch and it will fall on it's face, THEN mash the throttle. Supposedly the engine recovering from the fall and at lower rpm stays closer to the traction limit of the tires. Sounds reasonable to me, and I hate the thought of trying to moderate the throttle exactly at the traction limit. Ya might give it a try!:)

You could be like me and Blow 3 R200 rears out in 6 months, and I did all of that on Street Tires!!!:103: I keep expolding the spider gears upon launching! However I was pulling 1.6-1.8 60' times:unibrow:

Nah, no jag stuff. actually I'm trying to get away from the swing arm type setups, to much camber change for wide wheels/tires. The plan is for relatively stock stuff, just under a z is about all that's different. In that sense, it's custom, and I'll have to do some whittling....:)

I actually thought about building a link system off of the arm mounts and sticking a 8.8 that I have under my car but I hate to give up the IRS when street driving! Sounds cool, let us know how it works out!

I tell you what would be cool is to find a Cobra IRS chunk and make it fit under our cars!!

Yep, I won't give up the IRS either. The cobra rears are around, but guys seem willing to pay to much for them to me, and they look a lot heavier than I see any need for. I think I can do just as well using mostly what's already under mine, and be lighter and cheaper. The thing that ticks me off is that the IRS 8.8's and the straight 8.8 punkin's don't interchange....Grrrr.... I spose the GOOD thing is NO C CLIPS!:)
