90 TT steering input effort changes??
90 TT steering input effort changes??
My z has just started varying the amount of force needed to turn the steering wheel. I've done the diagnostic procedure in the book w/out a consult unit. It showed a fault with the vechicle speed sensor. I'm assuming that the speed sensor in question is the one on the tranny for the speedo. If the sensor was truely faulty wouldn't the speedo be intermitent as well? Or, could the rack just be going bad. It does't seem to to have any leaks in the system other then a small amount of wetness at the inner tierod end boots, but its had that for the last 6 years..... It has 120,000 miles on the car. I replaced the pump about two years ago w/a new one.
Thanks
Thanks
I'm assuming you checked the fluid and that you've been using ATF to fill that with when it does get low since you have a leak.
It could possibly just mean that the rack needs to be greased.

Hey dude, how are you?
I've experienced this already, and responded to this question before.
Assuming you do have P.S fluid in the system, and before you start changing expensive parts that might not fix your problem, try this:
Find the steering column's U-joint, at the bottom, where it meets the rack. Find a way of dropping a little bit of WD40, or a similar penetrating oil, there. See if the problem goes away with this.
I'd bet good money that does it.
This is a problem Z31 owners a more familiar with, but it's not that rare on early Z32s. Good luck, Diego.
P.S. Let us know what happens...
