YOU CAN TELL AN N42 HEAD BY THE CASTING NUMBER ON THE FRONT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD ON THE PASS. SIDE, BEING AN 82 N/A, IT WOULD HAVE FLAT TOP PISTONS. DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE 4:11'S THOUGH, MAYBEE STICK TO LOWER GEARS LIKE 3:9S IF GAS IS ANY IMPORTANCE TO YOU
It'll make a noticable difference. I say go for it. I liked my ZX with the 4.11 a lot. Sold it a few years ago though...
If you drive easy, 2900rpm or 3050rpm on the freeway doesnt' make even 1mpg difference while cruising. Don't worry about the gas milage. Mine varies so much anyway mostly dependant on my driving habbits, not my gear ratios. Keep your foot off the pedal if you want to conserve fuel. The '82 has the super tall 5th gear so you're good there.

thanks again bleach!
i 'm going to try to find a 4:11 this weekend.
i drive pretty heavy footed in town....but stay pretty mellow on the highway.
(guess that sounds backwards, but there is more braking and turning in town..plus i like to kill ricers in my sleeper "82)
