Want to buy a 300zx

As the topic says.... I've been shopping around for a decend 300zx for a time now but mostly out of curiosity. Now it is becoming deadly serious. I wanna know all there is to be aware of when buying one of these (used duh!).

What parts are especially touchy ? What kinda weakness do I have to look for, what are the worst case scenarios that I have to avoid ?

oh sorry forgot to say I'm lookin' for a TT with all the fuzz that comes with it (ttop, leather interior etc).

Is there better years in the lot ?

So many questions in my head these days.... please help !!!

Here are a few things to look for..

1) try to find something with low mileage
2) If its been modified make sure the mods have been done correctly.
If the mods are heavy check to make sure the clutch has been changed (once you creap up in hp the clutch is easy to go out)

3) suspension (Look to see it the tires have wear on the inside or outsides of them.) If they do have wear you may need to have adjustable suspension piece's put on the the car to correct for camber issues.

When and if you find the one you want get an expert to look at it. When I say expert that could one of many people! Somone who know a lot about cars, a body machanic ect....

LOL nice answer ! [you'll freeze]...... it goes without saying that this baby is gonna be a summer driven only car as all of these cars should be........ but here not everybody understands that and some have the guts to drive them in 4 inches of snow

OK you wanted to know the pros and cons well ttops leak!!! the seals are very expensive I checked it out and they want about 600usd for parts, On the other hand slick tops dont normaly leak and if it does the seals are very cheap to buy.

300zx TT

Well, I am new here because I need to sell my 300.

I have a 92 300zx TT. It's only got 86K on it, but it's a little rough. It isn't banged up, but it sat for a long time, and runs rough (needs tune up, and a couple sensors changed) and I got a "custom paint job" that cost me a bundle, but the company went out of business and it started having problems.

All that said, the car books for 13K, but I know the problems it has, so I would consider around 9K for it. (I figure with 4K you could do a whole lot to forget your worries)

hey i have a '91 300zx tt with 99K miles on it w/ t-tops and perfect interior (though it is cloth - but custom leather is better looking) has aftermarket chrome rims, and a few dings on the outside... needs power steering pump too, but i am only asking $7,000 or best offer... hit me up if you are interested!

I'm thinking of selling my 1993 Slicktop but I'm not sure how much I could get for it? The car has 200,000 miles on it (highway miles from previous owner using it to commute every day). I just recently replaced everything that you would with the 60k or 120k mile maintenance. It has new bridgestone potenza tires, 1 month old HKS Hiper exhaust system, an intake. The car runs excellent and is in good condition. About the only thing that isnt mint about it is the miles. How much do you think I could get for it?

A few more things:
TT only came with TTops(at least US, don't know about Canada)
Make sure 60k was done
get service records & receipts if possible

I am braindead today. There is more I just can't think of it.
