New Z, looking for louver

Just purchased my second 300zx. I have had zero luck searching the web including many Z sites and a few forums looking for rear louvers for the 1988 2+2 z31. They don't seem to exist anymore. Is there any other year that may be able to fit or is there anywhere to find these nowadays? I am a big fan of how they make this car look even if it is overwhelmingly 80's.

Welcome to ZDriver!

If the rear window dimensions are that different, I don't think I have ever seen a 2+2 rear louver. Anyway, maybe custom is the way to go... Check out these guys and have the window dimensions on hand so you can discuss your options with them.

One hint: you won't need a rear wiper with the louver on so if you just disconnect the wiper you can use a shallower louver that would otherwise get whacked by the wiper arm. ::

That was very helpful! However, sfx no longer makes the hatchback 2+2's and apparently Andy doesn't either. If someone could make them custom I would be all over it. Kind of a bummer they are so hard to track down. Any you can find specify they are for the coupe.

My suspicion is that very few, if any, were made in the 80s for the 2+2. My original '86 louver (all-aluminum) was probably aftermarket contracted by the dealer where I bought my '86na. He installed it for $200 add-on to the sales price. Shallow, so the wiper would get caught under it. But there weren't enough 2+2 models sold to justify the manufacturer's tooling up for another size louver.

The newer aftermarket plastic louvers are tall because they want to clear the wiper. You will probably have to get a custom louver made for your Z. I just think the car looks better with the shallow louver line so check that out and make your choice.

So I recently bought a Z31 and got some aluminum louvers from my uncle since he also had an 86 like the one I bought. Found out recently his was an 86 2+2 and not a 2+0 like the one I have.

Haven't tried to put it on my car yet due to some...issues. It is 41 inches across on the top, 44 on the bottom and 29 inches from top to bottom.

Since I do not want to put any money into the car at all, if it looks like it will fit I would be happy to sell it. It is in rough shape, as seen in these pictures - Album on Imgur

That is the original aluminum louver installed by the dealer at the time the Z was purchased in '86. It has a shallower profile than the plastic versions but will not clear the rear wiper. Looks better than the taller ones, I think, so disconnect the wiper. Easy to repaint too. Photo does not show the hinged flap at the top which slides up under the window frame. Also should have two folding struts to hold it up off the window for cleaning, and two slide-latches left and right at the bottom to lock it down.
