Okay so some guy said that a N/A shifter know will not fit a turbo trans. Is this true? Seems stupid to me but just making sure before i buy the shifter i want.

 

On a Z31, they can be different because of the transm model variations. Best thing is to take the boot off and check the base plate dimensions and screw locations. Just match those with your new shifter. Don't buy it blind.

 

I think the incompatibility between NA and early Turbo transmissions is true. The 86 turbo tranny is a Borg Warner T-5 clone. Others on the forum have confirmed aftermarket shifters (such as the B&M short throw shifter) for Ford Mustangs with the T-5 tranny will work on the Nissan version.
