Re: parts
There is lots you can do to increase performance.. just costs $$
You can have custom head work/port and polishing/valve relieveing.
Cams, headers, change the diff from your stock 3.54 to a 3.7 or 3.9 out of another z. (87 and up had 3.7) some older 280zx's had 3.9's
Throttle body upgrades ie stanza or 240sx.
ECU upgrade.
You can easily get 240hp from these engines. A friend of mine did up his 87 NA, and it whoops my 88 300zxt with 10psi or boost!!!.. cost him though.. 6-7K total.

like zr8ed said
$6,000-7,000 dollars. probably twice what you paid for your car.
or, for that same amount of money, you can BUY a turbo and modify and fix it with the rest of that money and totally blow ANY NA out of the water.

Re: parts
Motorsport Auto has a Z catalog out, but its not worth it. You could buy any turbo for half that cost. There is an 84 AE here in town in good condition for $3500. Add $50 for intake, a couple of hundred for exhaust, a boost valve for 45 bucks, you would be putting out anywhere from 220 - 250 hp.
