I have a 87turbo and my brother has a 85turbo it seems like his car is pulling harder than mine. I think mine is in better shape than his but just not as fast. Is it something i can do to even the odds or is the tranny a little differnt or what.

 

I'm pretty sure the 85t's use borg warner trannies, and the 87's used nissan trannies. But I'm not sure exactly when they switched em, so I could be wrong.
