what awsome cheap cars on craigslist have you bought before?

i just got one, awsome in its own sence thought.

i grabbed a straigt and clean 1990 Subaru Loyale Wagon for $300.
has the dreaded TOD but its fixed with new oil pump seals and some permatex gasket maker to keep them in place.

$300 out of Stanwood WA, its straight AWD (or full time 4wd) a/c, power windows/locks, new tires runs good despite TOD, 4 wheel disc (big) and its TURBOOOOO

but before any one goes "oh cool turbo AWD subaru it must rip".....yea no
i would hate to see how anemic a NA of the same car was, this one moves but the lag is horrible and the turbo isnt making hardly any boost at normal driving ranges and its designed that way (will probally change) and its auto too, i know the autos in these cars sap power but not this much. it might get better when the TOD is fixed.

more like TURDO instead of TURBO but for $300....

any way whats the cheapest of the cheap you guys have ever bought?

Cheapest? Amazingly my Z For $400 and I drove it home despite a miss-adjusted clutch and no ignition lock complete with rats nests under the seats...

Once I cleaned it up and cleaned it up VERY well It is a very nice car. I still need to get new carpets tho >.>

a junkyard was selling a complete l24 and i asked if they had the 240z it came out of, well needles to say $400 later i had a rolling 72 240z that was fairly rust free., sold the door panels for $350 sold the rods for $150 and sold a bunch of misc parts for another $300 then sold the car for $200, i bought my first z31 for $900 (87 NA coupe) and a year of absolute thrashing the oil pump died, bought my second z31 (88T 5spd coupe) for $1100 and after finding out that the left rear of the car was replaced i sold it to a complete ****tard, i bought my second z32 off craigslist, bought my current 240z off craigslist/hybridz and well i am currently now searching for something small to screw around town in.

Craigslist seems to have raised the price of old Datsuns. I haven't found anything I would consider cheap. Every time I do, I call or email and either no reply or its already sold.

my first z and first car. 1985 z31. 168k, digital dash, 5 speed, perfect leather, no leaks... also no exhaust, no rear quarters and no chance of passing emissions.

$250

I put about 40k on it the first year i had it and never changed the oil. That thing was great.

found a minor exhaust leak but $2 exhaust gaskets and it'll be fixed

yay for $300 car!

Found a 95 Civic Hatch with a Brand new white paint job, Lowered 2 inches on '99 Si wheels, 135,xxx, Carbon fiber lip, carbon fiber duckbill.. For $1,000. Everything worked in it too.. But it was sold within 20 minutes of it's posting.

I think my 300 was a good deal too.. $1,400. In black primer, APE performance chip, All maintenance was just caught up a month prior-Timing chain, Thermostat, Ball Joints, Tie Rods, AC Recharge.. And it came with bigger brake calipers(front and rear), 3 extra 300 rims, K+N Intake. And it drives wonderfully.

Keep looking found one (1972 Z) in wa $500, +$100 tow + Clutch Master cylinder+ Much needed Floor and I already had Panels, rebuilt the brakes. total $900 more or less with more work to do. (Floor not done just welded metal over the top but not very good.)
Low rust, other than floor, body definatly better then the frist one I bought for $100 and pushed home.

I picked up an 82 280zx from my buddies neighbor for 50 bucks. Car has holes in the floor pan dash was ripped apart. So far I have made about $200. off of parting out what is left of it, and used one of the tops, carpet and doors for my car. Still have to get rid of the motor and Targa roof band so I can cut it up. It didn't have a title. No wait ... the cheapest I ever got one for was a case of budweiser, and I drove that one home, tranny went out as I turned down my road, but she still made it in the driveway.

I got my Z for $2500. It had a motor though. That's been the cheapest Z I've found on CL. He originally posted it at $4000.

Around here, the <$1000 cars usually have a blown motor, a busted transmission or are otherwise incomplete.
