so I know this thread prolly belongs in the "other cars" section.... but I gotta tell someone! anyone! I bought this 92 325i for $3500 tonight. Driven by an old rich man.... only has 151k of "around town" driving. Not a damn thing wrong w/ it.

be careful with a bmw with that many miles, especially if the motor has never been rebuilt. My friend has a 325is that looks exactly like the one you bought, and he ended up blowing a head gasket and cracking his head, and he wasn't even driving hard when it happened. They are good cars, just be careful!

 

yeah its my same friend that blew the head and cracked the head but. just so u know a 325 IS is faster than my Z top end. the fastest we got his bmw b4 it hroke was 140 mph completely stock.

 

interesting... a supervisor @ my work has a 91 w/ 227k miles on it.... not a single prob. Of course, he treats his car good too & wouldn't keep driving it, if it were to get hot (or overheat)

 

Nice Nismo that is one luxury car that I do like. I have always liked BMW's, they just sort of grab you. I would like to have an '80's 2 door coupe sometime. But probably never. Anyway good find and a smokin' deal!

nice dude. I plan on geting a Beamer. I know where one is for 1,500$ all it need's is a water pump. He finaley dicided to let off it and put a price tag on it.

 

Fubar's mentioning of water pumps reminds me of a few things Nismo. The biggest two reasons people "Blow head gaskets in these cars": 1. For what ever reason the material used to make the impellor blades on the water pumps in those cars disintegrates over time. The blades just wear away and the next thing you know, you have a water pump that doesn't leak or show any outward signs of failure destroy your motor because the impellor blades are all gone. You should see when or if it was replaced and think about doing a new one anyways. 2. The neck on the radiator at the top hose is notorious for cracking and/or breaking... leads to a very sudden evacuation of all the coolant in the system if it breaks. Pull that top hose and check for cracks in that area. Radiator for that car is surprisingly cheap (Probably because of the high failure rate). Other than those two things, they are a pretty sweet car over all.

good call on the water pump tho... actually, the guy I bought it from, spent $700 last week for a BMW shop to put a new water pump on & flush the system. So I'm good for a while.
