alright well i told my dad that they twist not go straight in and out, and he said they twist out and back, but not back more then when it was first at rest, and there is not enough room for the pads, and the rotor, is there different thick pads or are they all the same

No, they should twist back in all the way flush with the body of the caliper. That is the only way you'll get brand new pads in there. sorry. They may be corroded inside. Those things are such a pain to dissasemble. (rear calipers) I'm not as familar with the 79-81 type though...
